Run Green – Privacy & Safety Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

1. Introduction

Run Green (“the App”) is designed with privacy and safety in mind. The App can be used without creating an account. By default, run and walk data, nutrition entries, weight entries, calorie goals, and saved foods or meals are stored locally on your device.

Run Green also offers optional online features. If you choose to create an account, you may upload run and walk summaries, view your online dashboard, search the shared food catalogue, use Green Sync with Bike Ride Green, and share selected run or walk summary information with private groups, clubs, family groups, or challenges.

2. Local Use Without an Account

You can use Run Green without creating an account. When used without an account, your run and walk data remains stored locally on your device. The App does not require an account to record runs or walks.

Food entries, manual calorie totals, additional activity entries, calorie-goal history, weight records, and your saved foods or meals remain stored locally on your device. You can export or restore nutrition data using the App’s nutrition backup feature.

3. Optional Online Account

If you choose to create an online account, Run Green may collect and store the information needed to operate that account, such as:

Creating an account is optional. You control whether you sign in, upload run and walk summaries, join groups, or enable Green Sync.

An online account is required for the shared food catalogue, online dashboard, groups and challenges, selected activity uploads, and Green Sync. Using food search alone does not upload your personal nutrition history.

4. Run and Walk Data

Run and walk data may include information such as activity date, activity type, distance, duration, average pace or speed, elevation gain, calories, heart-rate information when available, and personal benchmark values.

By default, run and walk data is stored locally on your device. Run and walk summaries are uploaded only when you choose to upload them from the App.

Run Green is intended to upload activity summaries, not continuously track or sell your personal location data. Export features such as GPX, CSV, or text are controlled by you from within the App.

5. Nutrition and Weight Data

The App may allow you to record food, calorie totals, additional activities, calorie goals, weight entries, notes, and saved foods or meals. This information is stored locally on your device by default and is used to provide nutrition summaries, calorie graphs, and weight trends.

If you enable Green Sync, the selected nutrition and weight information described in the next section is transmitted to and stored by Run Green’s backend so it can be synchronized privately between Run Green and Bike Ride Green.

Nutrition and weight features are intended for personal information and tracking only. They do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

6. Green Sync

Green Sync is optional and can be enabled or disabled in Preferences. It uses the same online account in Run Green and Bike Ride Green to keep supported information aligned between the two apps.

When Green Sync is enabled, it may store and synchronize meals, manual daily calorie totals, saved foods, weight entries, calorie goals, and activity-calorie information. Synchronized records may include dates, names, quantities, serving descriptions, calorie values, weight values, categories, notes, and deletion markers needed to keep both apps consistent.

Green Sync information is linked to your account, used only to provide synchronization, and is not displayed to groups, clubs, family groups, or challenges. Disabling Green Sync stops future automatic synchronization but does not by itself erase information already stored online. You can delete your online data or account from within the App.

7. Groups, Clubs, Family Groups, and Challenges

Run Green may allow users to join private groups, clubs, family groups, or challenges. If you join a group and upload run and walk summaries, certain run or walk summary information may be visible within that group dashboard depending on the group settings and features available at the time.

Group dashboards are intended for private sharing, progress tracking, club activity, family activity, or friendly challenges. Do not join a group if you do not want your uploaded run or walk summary information to be visible to that group.

8. Location Access

The App requires access to your location to record runs and walks and display routes on the map. Location data is used while recording a run or walk. If you enable background location access, it is used only to record your route accurately while an activity is in progress and the App is running in the background.

Location data is not used for advertising or third-party tracking.

9. Third-Party Services and Hosting

Run Green does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics for user profiling.

If you use the optional online account, account data, uploaded run and walk summaries, memberships, and Green Sync information may be stored using backend hosting services used by Run Green to provide login, synchronization, online dashboard, group, club, and challenge features. Service providers are required to handle this information consistently with this policy and only for the services they provide.

When you use the optional shared food catalogue search, your search request may be processed through Run Green’s secure backend and a food-data provider to return matching food information. Search is used only to provide that requested feature and is not used for advertising or profiling.

10. Data Sharing

Run Green does not sell your personal data.

Your uploaded run and walk summaries may be shown to you in your online dashboard and may be visible to private groups, clubs, family groups, or challenges that you join or participate in. Run Green does not share your data with advertisers.

Personal nutrition entries, calorie goals, weight records, and saved foods or meals are stored locally by default. If Green Sync is enabled, supported information is stored privately for synchronization between your apps; it is not shared with groups, clubs, family groups, or challenges.

11. Data Retention, Consent, and Account Deletion

Online information is retained while your account and the related online features remain active, or until you delete that information or your account. You may revoke Green Sync consent at any time by disabling it in Preferences. You may also delete your online data from within the App. This removes uploaded activity information, Green Sync information, groups, memberships, and profile information associated with your account where applicable.

You may delete your Run Green online account from within the App. The account-deletion process removes the online account and its associated uploaded activities, Green Sync records, profile information, and memberships. Account deletion cannot be undone.

Deleting your online account does not automatically delete run and walk data, nutrition data, weight records, or saved foods stored locally on your device. Local data can be removed by deleting entries in the App, clearing history where available, restoring a different backup, or removing the App from your device.

12. Safety Guidelines

While Run Green helps track your running and walking activity, your safety always comes first.

The App is a tool to assist your running and walking experience, but you are responsible for choosing safe routes, using suitable equipment, and exercising within your abilities.

13. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents or guardians should supervise use of the App by minors, especially if optional online account, group, club, or challenge features are used.

14. Changes

This Privacy & Safety Policy may be updated in the future if features change. Any updates will be published at the same URL.
